About Me

“At the Pitch & Grow Rich Academy, I provide a safe haven for women who are called to impact, but are scared to speak.”

I still can’t believe that I am the founder of the Pitch & Grow Rich Academy, that I get paid speaking gigs and that I have a waiting list of women eager to work with me.

Why?

Because there was a time when a school advisor told me I wouldn’t amount to anything.

At 16, a few days after my abusive boyfriend threw me in a bush, I found out I was pregnant. I was still in high school, my mother was always at work (yet money was always real tight) and my father was on the way back to prison again. So, I depended heavily on government assistance. On top of that, I had a stutter that destroyed my confidence.

At some point I decided that the military would be my ticket out of the madness. And so I enlisted into the U.S.Navy with a baby on my hip.

I was one of the first females to serve on the Wasp naval ship (once they finally allowed women to sail-that is). I remember being below deck stammering while giving some important instructions to the members of my crew. I felt so ashamed at their confused looks because of my stutter.

By the time I crossed over from the navy to the army, I began having these visions of speaking in front of thousands, even millions. But every time I even considered the possibility, the inner critic terrorized me. It laughed at me and said, “how can you speak to millions when you can’t even get through a sentence. How can you speak to thousands when you don’t even speak up in meetings?”

For years, I would sit in the back of the room at events with this calling nagging in my ear. I would soak in jealousy as all those brave folks spoke out in a room UNTIL finally I was done with being invisible.

So, I binged on recorded speeches, but I couldn’t ask questions. So I got nowhere.

Then I enrolled in Toastmasters. It ironed out little mistakes, but the rigid-structure caged my fiery side.

I tried winging it, getting advice from family and I even tried sounding like the celebrities in the recordings.

I sucked! I sucked! I sucked!

And then finally, everything changed for me when a brilliant coach noticed me. He positioned me as the lead presenter in several multi-level marketing companies. He said, “fear of the spotlight gets cured in the spotlight.” He gave me all the resources that took him decades to acquire from Jim Rohn, Og Mandino, Zig Ziglar, Brian Curators, Napoleon Hill, and Grant Cardone. An accomplished singer, he even gave me techniques to fine-tuned my speaking voice. He shared frameworks, blue-prints & goodness did he spill a lot of secrets.

He exposed me to techniques to retrain my brain, frameworks for speaking and kept me in the hot seat (with no mercy).

And it worked!

I haven’t stuttered in over a decade. In addition, I’ve given talks as short as 10 minutes and as long as two weeks. My largest live talk was to an audience of 5,000 world leaders.

And did I mention that I get paid to speak! Talk about irony!

Although I came from very humble beginnings and that counselor told me I’d never amount to anything, I opened two full-service vegan restaurants while still on active duty and after 20 years of military service, I retired from the army as the first African American female to achieve the rank of First Sergeant in field artillery history.

I rose above it all because the late, Mr. Artez Lamar, became a part of my story and allowed me to borrow his belief in me. That’s what an extraordinary coach and a tailored curriculum can do for you.

Now, at the Pitch & Grow Rich Academy, I provide a safe haven for women who are called to impact, but are scared to speak. I’m obsessed with turning driven women in to dangerous women, because I want women to know that, “we all possess the transformative power to evolve into our very best selves.”

Never pass up the opportunity to take the mic!
